Advent has begun. Let's do this!
The opening prayer for this first week of our Advent study can move your heart to your own prayers as you pray the presented thoughts and then expound on them to the Lord.
"we praise You for Your marvelous work"
Lord God, may our eyes be open to Your handiwork in weaving together the details of Your Christmas story. Praying that these glimpses will move our hearts to a continuous, sweet flow of worship.
"We rejoice in the miracles of Jesus' birth ..."
Let us we be drawn past the familiar facts to see and understand more of the Your supernatural activity to bring about Christ's birth at just the time and in the very way You did. Gracious Father, give us genuine joy in You that surpasses every other gift or pleasure we experience this Advent season.
"As we study Scripture this week, open our hearts ..."
Bring us, dear Lord, to a place of godly grief and repentance, of reverence and humility, of lifting our eyes to You. Yes Father, open then the eyes of our hearts and fill us with the hope of the gospel. ❤
She will give birth to a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21)
>> How does the redeeming work of Christ in His ongoing forgiveness of our sins bring you hope?
